I have a 2015 2dr with six speed manual. With almost 300 hp I thought it would be reasonably fast. My old Touareg that's much heavier and has a small 240 hp V6 is actually faster than the smaller wrangler why? It barely keeps up with traffic especially 0-60

Probably because it's a giant not very aerodynamic box on wheels. But the 3.6 is capable of getting out of its own way, but not if you're not heavy footed. My 6 SPD 15 JKU can go when I want it to.

Now my 11 JKU was a different story, that thing didn't have enough gumption to pull a drunk hooker off a toilet

Yeah, something is wrong. Mine easily gets up and moves. It does top out around 100mph though. If your having trouble maintaining speed at 65/70 mph and your running stock tires I'd have it looked at. Now if you have big tires and improper gearing that could explain your sluggish feeling.
I'm not sure what my 0-60 times are, but it's quick.

i am pretty sure nothing is wrong :) probably just wrangler style gearing etc.. same 3.6 in a cherokee i am sure will be much faster
I forgot that I do have a 373 rear, that will give more torque than the 321. Not sure what you have. My 2012 Rubicon that I had prior to buying the Willys had a 2 1/2 inch lift with 35 tires and a 373 rear and had plenty of get up and go also. It was much heavier than my 2 door. It had steel bumpers and a winch also. But even though it had the 373 I did not have the get up and go that my two door has.

I had an N54 powered e93 BMW 335i. Also 300hp. Probably weighed almost as much as the Wrangler (convertible, so hundreds of pounds of extra weight for the roof structure, chassis bracing, etc). The 335i will out-accelerate, out-brake, and out-handle ANY Wrangler - even a rental.

Wranglers aren't fast. You learn to deal with it.

My 15 JKU 6spd with 3.73 on stock tires is relatively quick when I want it to be. Maybe the OP has 3.21 with larger tires?

They use hp to sell cars. At the end of the day this engine only has 260 ft lbs of torque. This is further reduced by a in efficient drive train, 1/3 of your power is consumed before it hits the wheels. Besides the weight as others have mentioned the aerodynamics kill it as the speed rises. Another thing to factor in is the weight and rolling resistance of your tires compared to other offerings. This is why the 3.6 can get 30+ mpg in other vehicles but struggles to get 20 in ours.

Don't mean to offend- but did you notice this when you test drove it? Is this something new? As mentioned- they're not speed machines but they're not dogs either. I drove my friend's Touareg and I don't think its any faster.
For instance:
2012 Touareg TDI Executive: o-60= 6.8 seconds. 15.7 sec 1/4 mile.
2012 JK: 0-60 6.6. 15 seconds quarter mile.
Models vary slightly but your Jeep shouldn't be the dog. 3.21s will make it feel (more) sluggish for sure. What is your gear ratio?

Yeah something is up. If you floor it, are you just sitting there waiting for it to catch up? I have an auto but it is plenty fast given that it is a truck.

top 5 by resale value w/ their respective 0-60 times, I'd say it is plenty fast:

6.8 toyota tacoma
7.5 toyota 4runner
9.4 gmc canyon
7.6 chev colorado
6.6 jeep wrangler

Another thing not mentioned yet is that drivetrain break-in can be really long. From engine to differentials, my 2015 was very tight for around 4000 miles. At 5200 miles now, I'm just starting to enjoy more responsiveness and even my fuel economy for the same drives has increased by >1 MPG.

They are working on the highway I take to get home from work. It's one lane and they make you go right to highway, stop at a stop sign, then pull out and go go GOOOOOO to catch up with traffic. Imagine stopping at a stop sign in your neighborhood with the cross street having a 65mph speed limit.

I took this as an opportunity to flog the beast and she didn't disappoint. Even with mud tires and LSD on it kicked the rear end out and I chirped the tires in first and second with a big surge at third gear (no chirp). It has the nuts when you stomp it, esp with the 6speed and 3.73 gears (2015 JKUWW)

Well your Wrangler is faster than you old Touareg. I don't have a time for a 2015 but a 2014 2dr Willy's with manual transmission does 0-60 in 6.6 sec's and the qtr in 15.3 sec @ 90mph, this is from Car & Driver.

You did not say what year your Touareg was but the fastest V6 is 0-60 in 7.6 sec's and the qtr in 15.8 sec @ 87 mph, also from Car and Driver.
