We just purchased a brand new Jeep last week and my wife noticed a big scratch on the hood this morning. She is absolutely sick about it (it's her car and it is her birthday on top of it). Any ideas on what can be done? I'm assuming it will need to be taken to a body shop (it's definitely through the clear coat). Any help suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Damn. Looks like the hood does need to be repainted. I mean, you can touch up that entire scratch, but it won't look good as new.

If you do get it re-painted, have a qualified shop apply XPEL Paint Protection Film to the hood.

Scratch? That's like a love tap. If I freaked out over every bit of Arizona pin striping I have, I'd never take the Jeep out of the driveway. It's a Jeep! Use it and drive it like a Jeep! I have a black JKR with some solid striping and am damn proud of it.

Remember to, as soon as possible, slam your bottom on some rocks. You don't want scratches up top and nothing underneath. (Expensive 10A btw).

That's what I love about this forum; many minds = many ideas!

There are a number of places that sell these hood decals at varying prices. You may want to check out pixeldecals and see about getting a custom one. Don does great work at a good price.

Or even opt for one of these and really be unique: | Mopar

And never forget that a happy wife makes for a happy life.

If you are going to get it repainted, you may want to consider buying a 10A or Rubicon X hood, have it painted first and then take your Jeep in for the installation.

That way you and your wife can be glad there was a mishap that justified purchasing the cool looking factory hood.

Perhaps a offer the X hood as birthday present?

Another way of looking at the problem.
