We all enjoy taking our best buds along with us, but after having 2 Shepherds with bad hip dysplasia and 2 Labs with ACL repairs. As you know already, those ups and downs are going to take their toll on their joints. Good luck...maybe save those 10g's.

why go 5.5" on 35's?
^ this ^

Debating lift height vs tire size aside, we've got 4 Siberian Huskies (ranging from 46 to 63 lbs), only one of which is currently able to jump into the back of my XJ (5.5" and 35s, but it's an XJ, so...). The others I just lift up into the back. Same goes for when they ride in the back of our current pickup (Ram 1500, stock). We do the whole put their front paws up then lift their back end up thing too.

With 3.5" and 37's on our JK I don't think any of our dogs could jump into the back.

We tried a folding ramp with our old truck (Ram 3500 on 35s), but it was heavy and awkward to handle, and wasn't really long enough so it ended up being too steep for our dogs to reasonably use. We didn't keep it long.

I've seen those Petloader folding stairs before. I think they're probably the best option given the height we dealing with on a lifted Jeep.

I would worry about asphyxiation back there, among other unpleasantries.
Your right, dogs don't need to be sucking fumes anymore than we do.

Sounds like my household. I have 3 that would never be able to jump in with all their issues. the other 4, no problem.

I have a lifted JKU and my Dobbie has no problem getting in and out.

When he was a pup I bought a retractable aluminum ramp from Amazon that laid flat behind the rear seat. Now that he's older (1 1/2 yrs) he jumps in and out on his own no problem. When he gets much older we'll just go back to the ramp.

Anybody have suggestion for getting in through the front? I have a 2 door and my dogs like the seat (and it really is theirs.) One is 70lbs, the other 50lbs.
I'm lifting them now.

Thanks!

Y'all have horses not dogs!! 100lb labs!!! 85lb pits!!
I have a Jack Russell he's 12 pounds of fury.
I tell him "truck" and he springs up to the drivers seat. My olde English bulldog is another matter. I tell him "truck" and he puts his front paws up on the door sill and I lift him in. And I use the truck command since I've always driven a truck. If I say Jeep they just cock their heads and look confused.

I bought a little foldable step that slides right under the seat or lays flat in the trunk of my XJ. Real easy with my old dog, young pup jumps right up. One is 3 yes and the other is 12 this year.
Hi there, What type of foldable step did you find to fit under the seat? Do you mean front or back seat?
We have two Chow rescues (1 is 12 and the other will be 13 next month) that just recently started having problems getting into our JKU now and then. But we have the back seats folded down all the time to give them both room (they are not small Chows 65-75 lbs.) and the Jeep is our everything vehicle - grocery shopping etc. and they always go with us. That is why we haven't looked at ramps that would take up too much room in the vehicle when not in use.
Thanks for any help from anyone.

easiest way... gather him up by the legs and lift him in and out.
did that with our Rotti for his last 5 years.
women will love you.

You MUST be very careful with this type of setup having a dog jump in and out of a lifted jeep or any type of scenario like this. I cannot tell you how many times we see sports related or jump related injuries in large dogs from scenarios just like this!
Yep, paid about $4,000 for two ruptured ACL's on our middle golden retriever. The money was bad, but the rehab was worse. We keep golden number 3 lean and avoid big jumps.

Otto step

I have one 6 yr old GSD and one 11 yr old GSD. I bought the Otto step and it was great. I had to teach the old dog how to use it because he kept trying to jump around it at first but he got the idea pretty fast and now doesn't even hesitate. The Otto Step doesn't take up much room either. Highly recommend it. The old dog can get in and out without getting a running start and I don't have to worry about the idiot younger dog hurting himself.

Speaking of dogs in lifted Jeeps, mine gets too scared when we're doing even a little minor rock crawling... he was ok and sitting in the passenger seat until at about the 2:10 minute mark in this Youtube video from a previous WF Meet & Greet in Big Bear California. That's when he suddenly crawled into my lap and was shaking/scared to death... I could barely steer with him sitting there lol.
