Here are the pics when I was putting on my spacers. ( I took the air damn off the first week)

And with spacers

And the backspacing on my fuel Kranks are 4.5" backspacing. so it is possible without spacers. I was told if I can go without spacers, then don't get them. And that's what I did. And I'm perfectly happy with it. they stick out a good inch or two also. Here's a pic of them sticking out without spacers...

It all depends on the width of the tire. I know someone running 33" BFG KM2s but very narrow 255/85R16 on a completely stock JK with no lift and when we hit some moderate trails, even with sway bar disconnected there was no rubbing. By the way it's not a small fitting 33 either, we measured them out to be right at 33.

Only those of us that are running the stock wheels and want the wider/taller tires need the spacers, because of the backspacing on the OEM wheels.
You beat me to it, The stock tire have 6.25" backspacing. With a 1.5" spacer this would give an overall 4.75 backspacing. With the 7.5" width of the rim, we are limited to the width of the tire.

Yea I'm going to a stick with the stock rims for now. I'm looking to get 275/70R18 tires

35s and no lift
GSSP, what's the back spacing on your wheels? You don't have any rubbing on or off road? I'm planning on doing a 2.5" MetalCloak lift so it won't be a long term challenge. I'm planning on running my stock rubicon wheels, so I know I'll need spacers too. Unfortunately, I'm already overdue for tires. Good to hear it's possible.
