Planning on getting 33in and a lift for my 2015 Sahara but I was wondering if I could run the 33's before installing the lift? Also wondering how it looks.
Only those of us that are running the stock wheels and want the wider/taller tires need the spacers, because of the backspacing on the OEM wheels.I have a JKU with 33 x 12.5 17s with No lift and no spacers. No rubbing either. At all. ever. So it's possible. here's a pic.
You beat me to it, The stock tire have 6.25" backspacing. With a 1.5" spacer this would give an overall 4.75 backspacing. With the 7.5" width of the rim, we are limited to the width of the tire.Only those of us that are running the stock wheels and want the wider/taller tires need the spacers, because of the backspacing on the OEM wheels.
Yea I'm going to a stick with the stock rims for now. I'm looking to get 275/70R18 tiresIt all depends on the width of the tire. I know someone running 33" BFG KM2s but very narrow 255/85R16 on a completely stock JK with no lift and when we hit some moderate trails, even with sway bar disconnected there was no rubbing. By the way it's not a small fitting 33 either, we measured them out to be right at 33.

I have the same set up but with Duratrac 33s. No rub. Wanted to do it with stock rims but took it to discount tire and test fit was rubbing on full turn. Love the Moab Machine finish...

GSSP, what's the back spacing on your wheels? You don't have any rubbing on or off road? I'm planning on doing a 2.5" MetalCloak lift so it won't be a long term challenge. I'm planning on running my stock rubicon wheels, so I know I'll need spacers too. Unfortunately, I'm already overdue for tires. Good to hear it's possible.35s and no lift
I'm running 275s Duratrac. I was told prior to the install that I might be rubbing slightly at the air dam but that never ended up the case and I experienced no rubbing at full turn nor running trails.Yea I'm going to a stick with the stock rims for now. I'm looking to get 275/70R18 tires
