Okay im very sorry i searched a bunch of times and couldnt find anything.
I just started going offroading and i dont have a winch and i was wondering what the best possible way to get unstuck is. What tow strap or rope do you suggest?
Or anything else?

Thanks in advance. Feel like a noob:banghead:

If you don't have someone to pull you out a strap is worthless. Hi lift and winch kit combo is great though

Snatch strap is the best without a winch. Of course you need another vehicle with you. Imo

Hope u can dead lift a good bit.

lol... if nothing else, pick up a come along if you can find one rated for about 8,000 lbs. It's still going to require two people (one to crank on the come along and one to operate the vehicle while the other person is cranking), but at least it doesn't require two VEHICLES.

Of course, this method is definitely not the best by any means...actually a bit dangerous if the Jeep jerks on that cable while you're busy cranking away on it, but if it's your only option, it's better than walking home. Just be gentle and use the come along to do most of the hard work rather than using the Jeep to do the work.

As far as the BEST method without a winch... snatch strap with the looped ends, no hooks.

Snatch strap it is :D thank you all! And yes i know i need another person with me... i always go offroading with a friend in another car just incase i get stuck.

what pound strength do you suggest for the snatch strap?

This is just a guess...but I'd think at least twice the combined vehicles weight (ie two 4,000 lb Jeeps = 8,000 lbs x 2; 16,000 lb minimum). Personally...the higher the better IMO.

If by your self... can be hard, come-a-long can help if there are tree's around to tie off too with a two strap or tree saver, if no tree's in your area then you might want to look into a
Pull-Pal winch anchoring device for 4x4s, Jeeps, SUV, ATV, off-road, military use to use with the comea long.. or winch for that matter.

IF with another 4x4, snatch strap is the faster way under most times.. Just be sure to have good tow points on both 4x4's.

:) Just a late note-

You should have a 20,000/30,000 lb Recovery (snatch)strap--AND--a 20,000 lb __TOW__strap-and several 3/4" "D" rings

You can't use a come-along/HiLift jack with a Recovery (snatch) strap, it has tobe a TOW strap !!

The HiLift CAN BE a comealong, but it is a PITA-get a good 4000 lb comealong and an ARB snatch pulley (doubles pull)/w open ends-OR a winch-OR

Don't get stuck !

:rofl::rofl: JIMBO

Lockers..... :p
Lockers gained me squat last weekend.

I came to the outside of an ox-bow on a creek that was about 25' wide with a 3' drop to the water. The first 2' at about 45* with a drop of a foot to the water. I walked it first, bout 8" deep with good gravel bottom, no mud.
I eased the front in and let gravity do it's thing for the back. As I rolled about 3' from the bank I eased into the throttle just slightly. The second power was applied to the wheels, the gravel under the tires dislodged and I dropped like a rock (quick gravel ?). I'm pretty sure I heard the axles hit with a thunk. Forward or back, no movement. For all practical purposes I could have been on 12" jackstands in 24" of water.
Water was sitting right at the sliders so none came in.
In front of me for the next 500yds is the inside bend of the ox-bow that's nothing but sand and gravel.
Out comes the Pull-Pal. I walked the winch line all the way out till there were only about 5 turns on the drum, set the Pull-Pal and gave it a shove in with my foot, then crossed my fingers.
As I spooled in the winch, the anchor dug in for about 2' then held fast. With Jeep in just idling in first gear, line held like it was attached to a tree and I winched out of the hole I was in, across the rest of the creek, and up the far bank (only about a foot).
That $320 gadget just saved me probably $500 in towing charges, not to mention time and aggravation.

O.K. so yes I could have buried my spare... see time and aggravation above.

In my case above I had no tires on any kind of ground !!!
