I bought 2013 Rubicon Unlimited a month ago. Under the hood zip-tied to the firewall is a blue wire with no connector. The end of the wire is simply cut. What's the intended purpose of the wire? I searched this forum and looked in the manual but couldn't find anything.

Thanks, Tom

Aftermarket alarm or radio or something? I can't tell what it is connected to.

I will investigate where the blue wire (and red wire) goes when I get home tonight. The Jeep was brand new, however, I had the dealer add a trailer hitch between the time I test drove and purchased the vehicle and then picked it up a few hours later.

now that makes since. is it a 7 pin? if so the blue wire should actually be connected to your brake pedal switch for the trailer brakes if you have a brake controller and the red wire is to the plug to charge the battery on the trailer when its connected to the tow vehicle.

That's def. Aftermarket.

Anything from the Trailer shouldn't have needed to be Ran to the Engine Compartment, unless you got a 7-Pin Trailer Harness that Incorporates Trailer Brakes. Then they could have had to Run Wires to the Front for that.

But if it's just a Standard 4-Pin Harness, everything Plugs into the Rear Tail Lamps.

That's it! The trailer installation has the 7-pin connector. I would have been happy with the standard 4-pin connector.
Follow the wires from the back of your 7 pin. I have haunch that you will find a 4 pin connector. Probably tucked up between bumper and the frame cross member The four pin would then lead to the left tail light. That is where a T-connector ties into the lights
