Hmmm.....being that it was originally $249.....and is marked down to $49....I'm not sure if that is good or bad. :D

But let us know how it works. I'm going to try to some research on it.

I went with a unit made by memphis. it was pretty easy to install, works great, adjusts great, sits nicely in the little cavity just to the left of my head unit on the 13JK. think I paid like $40 for it.
Can you post pics/links?

I'm curious about this Sony unit (I'm a former Sony fanboy who now HATES Sony).

This is the number I'm looking at:
Note: CEA2006 Output Power - 17W RMS @ 4-ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, <1% THD+N

I have the Alpine system, and after emailing Jeep, everyone with a premium system is getting ripped off. Our amps are not 7 channel 368 watts. They are closer to 6 channel 270watts....and that is peak.....at 2 ohms. (The HU powers the tweeters in the tombstones)

Now that I have 4 ohm Kickers installed, I could use a decent 4 channel, 4 ohm amp.

you know what, i take all of that back.

Pac-Audio.com Product Details | iPod Integration for your car and More by Pac-Audio - Connecting you to the future

is what I used, and I paid about $35 for it.

wish I had taken pics, but I am now a pro at removing the 12-13 dash. pop off the little piece below your steering wheel, pull the 2 (or 1, my jeep was missing a screw) screws. remove the little cup under the H/U (window controls for you lazy people) remove the screw inside. remove the cup under your rear view mirror, pull the screw under that. dash will now pop off.

it is tough to find a good frame ground in there, so run a wire from the frame ground by your left foot. I powered the unit with my keyed 12v outlet. I guess I could have used that as a ground, but I didnt have a lot of wire back there to work with.

That line out converter is a two channel though. What I'm liking on the Sony is that it has the full 4 channel capacity for the mids/highs and then adds separate outs for the sub with independent level control for it. I'm thinking at a minimum that it will be worth it's price if the outputs function well.

As per the RMS wattage rating, what is the standard (non-Alpine/Infinity) head unit rated at? I figured the Sony has to be at least a minor upgrade.

Oh, and the iPod integration part is throw away for me. I'm an Android guy.

I think the HU is around 7 watts per channel...but I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure the Sony is a decent upgrade.

I wonder how are it is to wire up?

And yeah...I'm Android all the way as well.
I'm tempted to order one for $50.00 just to test it out..but I need to find a way to not splice the wires.

Nevermind on that last one... that was a stupid idea. I'm splicing mine now. Couldn't really find any harnesses that I could confirm work with 2013. Wiring the splices with spade connectors so I can at least reconnect everything back stock as much as possible if ever needed.

I received the unit today and started the install. Hard part was figuring out where it should go. Thought about fabbing up a plate to bolt to the weird elevated smaller plate under the passenger seat, but decided ultimately to install it up in the recess behind the dash on the driver side so I had shorter wire runs and a more hidden install.

Ran out of connectors so I have to wait until tomorrow to finish up. Right now I'll be running just the stock speakers off of it. I'll let you guys know if the amp is useful or not. Next up will be a mono amp for the sub. Still trying to decide if I want to go with an 8" or 10". Don't need anything thunderous, just accurate kick drum for rock/metal. Also thinking of making a downfiring enclosure to hide the amp and sub, with anderson connectors to make everything quick release if I need to pull it out.

off topic, did anybody else notice that the up button on the left side of the back of the steering wheel will skip songs on pandora using an Android via bluetooth? greatest thing EVER

For $50 that's a decent unit for what it does. Even if you don't need the iPod/iPhone dock. 4 channel plus sub outs is pretty dang nice too. I paid a lot more for the Pac unit in my F150 that doesn't have the sub out.
