Ok, I have read a lot of postes around the internet on this issue. Just bought a new fan and harness from JeepAir and I assumed the harness they were going to send me was the main harness that plugs directly into the back of the fan switch in the dash. Instead its 6 wires with mini spades on one end and round connectors and heat shrink on the other + one 3 spade plug. What is this for, where does it go, and why do I need to replace it?

The melted plug obviously needs replaced, it won't even sit on the fan switch securely anymore. But what I have received ain't related to that obviously. So I guess I have to cut the melted harness off and use plain old female spades to rewire to the switch (though the switch copper male terminals seem kind of flimsy thin)?

The bare terminals are likely intended to snap inti the plug tho obviously you need a new one and I'm just guessing....
Likely the 3 prong plug is for the resister pack, again just guessing...

Suggest you call jeepair on the phone ans ask them

Will call them, but seems to me quite obvious and all of the pics I see its the 6 prong plug that is melting on the back of the fan dial. Mine is melted on the #4 setting above. Per their instructions and write up....

"The three wire connector that connects to the back of the AC/heater control head melts. The common fix for this problem is to cut the factory connector off and replace it with three female crimp-on connectors and plug them into the control head. This temporarily fixes the problems. A short time later you find yourself taking the dash apart again to fix something else in this circuit that has overheated."

If anyone knows the answer, thanks.
