I just picked up Mickey Thompson baja ATZ p3s yesterday in 31x10.5. Looks like the pressure was filled to 30 even though I thought the shop said 40. What's a good psi to lower them to for loose sand crawling ? Thanks!
Damn 5psi! Wow!We are running BFG MT KM2 35-12.5-15 and when I was at the dunes this fall I was running at 10-12 psi with moderate luck got stuck a few times. The last time I got stuck this old timer pulled me out and said I had to much air in them. So we dropped down to 5 psi all the way around and there was not a hill that I did not crawl up. I even backed over the ridge and part way down then back up to pull some one out. You just can't be stupid and go do doughnuts or you will loos your bead.
X2, 8psi is were its at. You wouldnt believe the difference between 8 and 12 psi til you try it. You just need to have a source to air back up before you hit the road.Run 8 psi regularly in the sand and have even run down as low as 4 with no problems. Just don't do any sharp turns or donuts that low. Btw, no bead locks.
Good point!I suspect most tire pressure gauges are not reliably accurate enough at any pressure, let alone single digit psi applications. Any recommendations for tire pressure gauges that won't break the bank?
I use the ARB deflator, it's accurate.I suspect most tire pressure gauges are not reliably accurate enough at any pressure, let alone single digit psi applications. Any recommendations for tire pressure gauges that won't break the bank?
