I was looking at the versa mount 2 very similar to that great place to place the MIC....will wait for some more feedback I am more concerned about all this stuff fitting together and if this is all I need besides the antenna mount I am building one.

Before you do anything. You need to know some things.
1. Who you gonna talk to.
2. How far in miles. Channels and Frequencies. Scanner.
3. What are they using.
4. What do they recommend
If it were me, I'd go with a Hand Held. You can take it with you when get out of Jeep and do what ever you do.

Recently I was at Liggett in the US Army and we had these very cool Motorola radios that we used from hmmv to hmmv and it was perfect so I bought something similar the Midland hand held CB 775 and mainly its for keeping contact with club members while trail riding

And yes it came with 2 battery packs for remote communication which is another reason why I went with that one but did I get all the antenna stuff right?

I have almost the same setup. Everyone told me not to get the midland 75 because its a handheld and handhelds are crappy and don't work well bla bla bla. I got it anyway just to try it for myself (not to mention I had 90 days to test and return it for a cobra 75). I am more than pleased with it. No mounted box that takes up space. No wiring to the battery. I can take it handheld when I get out the Jeep to recover/get recovered. And I can remove it completely if I want, whenever I'm topless or doorless or I'm not using it or all of the above. Its plenty loud. Only thing is I haven't found a great way to mount it yet (not that I've spent much time trying though). Originally I had it stuck to my dash with some velcro tape, but S. Florida gets so damn hot that it melted the tape within a week. So its usually just sitting on my lap the whole time I'm out on a trail. The most important part of your setup though is the antenna. A radio is a radio, they all do the same thing. The antenna configuration is the most important part. Get a reputable brand e.g. Firestik, Wilson, etc.. 4' at LEAST. Make sure you have a good ground, and DEFINITELY make sure you have it tuned correctly. It can make all the difference in reception when you're in the boondocks.

This is the exact setup that I have.

Note: I did not buy it off these sites, I bought it in my local CB shop. Prices may vary. Just showing you the exact products I got.
