Quick question (search function is wonky on this site, so I apologize)

I know I read something about it, but the question is this: I have JKU stock springs brand new. The JK we have is ready for a new set of shocks. Can I swap these in to replace the JK springs and get a bit of lift (Inch or so?) out of it? Do I do this front and rear?

The shop is installing the shocks, so I thought I would just drop them off and have them swap them out. The other question is, is it a "quick" job to swap them out, or is it more complicated, and probably not worth paying someone the labor to do it?

Having a post lift makes the job way easier. Totally doable in your driveway if you have the right equipment. Proper size jack stands, trolley jack and wrenches. Disconnect shock, brake caliper, and sway bar links to lower the axle far enough.

We just swapped springs on a buddies 2017 JKU Recon. He has Terra Flex lift which had spring keeps on top and bottom in the front. The first spring took us about 40mins to swap as the spring barely fit over the Terra Flex bump stops he has. The second one took us 9mins. So 49mins over all to do the front. Easy job.

The first question is, which JKU springs? There at least four different spring options for JKU's, not counting the special editions like the Recon and 10A.
Next question would be which JK springs are on the JK? Again, there are four different standard options, not counting the special editions.
Typically you want to look at the tags on the springs to see what part number they are. The key numbers are the last two digits before the letters at the end of the part number.
Knowing where you are and where you would be going would help determine if it is worth the effort. For example, if you JK springs are the tallest JK springs, and the JKU springs you have are the shortest JKU springs it really wouldn't be worth the effort to change them out unless there was something physically wrong with your springs and you were replacing them anyway.
Installing springs isn't that hard, and can be done in your driveway with a jack and some jack stands. But it is a fair bit more work than changing shocks, so if you are paying a shop you will likely have to pay them more.
